The Civilization board game by Avalon Hill
Civilization, or as it has come to be called, Civ, rules. No, I'm not talking about the computer game, which in fact was based on the board game. I'm talking about the original board game, made by Avalon Hill Games. You can't even find it anymore, except occasionally on eBay, and then only for outrageous prices.
Some friends of mine, John and Joanne Budzien, have the original board game and a copy of Advanced Civilization as well, which both expands the game map and upgrades the trade and Civilization cards.
I wrote a program in C called "Advanced Civilization Calculator," to calculate values of Civilization cards on the fly while I play the game. You might think writing a 1300-line C program to do just that is overkill, but at the time I was needing to give myself a refresher in C, so it killed two birds with one stone. I have released the program under the GNU General Public License. If you'd like to check it out, the archive is here. All you need to do is compile it -- if you're using Linux, just do a gcc -o civcalc civcalc-X.c where X is the version of the Calculator program. Please send me feedback at matthew.mccleary@gmail.com.
Download Advanced Civilization Calculator:

Christopher Dearlove (email) sent me a link to some spreadsheets he created which essentially do the same thing as my ACC program.
