You're here reading this, presumably, so let me tell you just a few of the things I am and do.
My name is Matthew McCleary. I am the network administrator at the Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, a division of New Mexico Tech, a university in Socorro, NM. I have a son, Kevin, and a cat, Boris. I moved back to Socorro in January 2007 after fifteen months in exile in Trinidad, Colorado, and finally succeeded in selling my Trinidad house in March 2008, just before the housing market imploded.
I have an AS from New Mexico Tech (2003) and am continuing work toward a BS in Information Technology.
I own and operate a consulting business called McCleary Consulting. Currently the only consulting work I am engaged in is being "the computer guy" for Cottonwood Valley Charter School, which is a full-time job in and of itself. There's never enough time to get everything done. I really wouldn't be able to take on any more work without hiring additional people, and I'm not partcularly interested in being a boss.
Once upon a time, I played the persona of Flainn Raighne ("flan renny"), an Irishman, in the Society for Creative Anachronism. For various reasons, not the least of which is lack of spare time, I no longer play.
I enjoy brewing beer, mead, and wine at home. Sometime in the distant future, I would very much like to raise bees.
I like playing with computers of all types, both on a professional and personal level. I am a Microsoft Certified Professional on Windows Server 2003. Lately, however, Windows (especially Vista) has started to seriously bug me, so I've switched almost entirely to Ubuntu Linux.
I pretend to do something about my perpetual pudginess problem (say that three times fast) by running semi-frequently — sometimes even with Kevin in his jogger. Running is actually kinda fun, once you get past the agony stage. Then, you get addicted to the endorphins, which is almost as bad.
